A community event curated around the idea; that the best sales leaders spend less time selling to customers and more time understanding them.
We had more than 200 of New Zealand's founders, sales leaders and growth operators gathered at Auckland's Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, overlooking the masts and moorings of Westhaven Marina, for another booked-out edition of The Jam.
To learn about the art and science of start-up sales, all whilst in the quintessential city of sails too.
The Jam is our regular community tech event series hosted by Movac and led by Operating Partner Serge van Dam. This one was a unique evening that traded polished presentations for something far more valuable: hard-earned experience and stories of sales success.
Speakers had just 10 minutes to unpack the wins that fuelled growth, the losses that reshaped thinking, and the commercial instincts that helped Kiwi tech companies earn customers well beyond our shores.

As the final questions wrapped, the conversation refused to end. Byron Powell and James Broadbent sparked impromptu ad-hoc chats with the crowd with further sales hot takes, before the attendees drifted off to overlook the marina, swapping stories for clinking glasses, as daylight faded across the harbour.
