The most trusted connections form when there’s good food and good company.
The Kiwi Finance Leaders x Movac Dinner series brought together CFOs, Finance Directors and Heads of Finance from across the high-growth tech sector for two evenings of relaxed, peer-to-peer conversation first at White + Wong's in Auckland, then at the historic Thistle Inn in Wellington.
Guests included those from companies such as Halter, Xero, Sharesies, Auror, Crimson Education, Tradify, Shuttlerock and Aroa Biosurgery, and many others with a strict one-per-company rule to keep the conversation as broad as possible.
With a shared table of unique guests and a set menu of yummy food, the two events had conversations flowing and ranged from the practical realities of AI integration in the finance function, to optimising the modern tech stack, the current capital-raising landscape, and the challenges of overseas expansion and compliance.
The standout theme from feedback: the mid-dinner mix-up. Where the Movac team moved guests around the table to make sure everyone connected with someone new.
Jono Baker, Group Controller at Halter, called it "a great evening to connect with other finance leaders," adding that the Movac team's efforts to keep people moving meant strong connections all night. Yuliya Bolgova, Finance Manager at Comply Pro, agreed it was "just a fab night," while Mark Talbot, CEO at Dtwo, summed up the room as "an outstanding group of people."
A huge thanks to Georgia Burns for helping bring the Kiwi Finance Leaders community together, and to everyone who joined us for sharing their honesty and insight.
