No water. No condensate. No compromise.

Founder and CEO – Dr. Sandra Grau-Bartual.
We led RespirAq’s Seed round, building strong conviction in the company's potential to radically simplify how respiratory humidification is delivered.
The story of RespirAq
RespirAq is commercialising its Founder and CEO Sandra’s PhD research on the use of a thermoresponsive polymer in respiratory humidification.
Respiratory Humidification is a global therapy utilised in various clinical and non-clinical settings, but always to humidify a patient's airway. Current devices typically fit into one of two categories: either a heated humidifier with a consumable water source that adds moisture to inhaled air, or a Heat and Moisture Exchanger (HME) that captures exhaled moisture and heat for release on inhalation. While heated humidifiers provide near-saturated air to patients, they are bulky and require significant monitoring versus HMEs, which offer simplicity but at the cost of humidification effectiveness.
The solution
RespirAq has developed an entirely novel form of active respiratory humidification device. By providing gold-standard humidification in a highly compact, waterless form factor, the device saves significant setup and monitoring time and costs. The company was awarded Breakthrough device designation by the FDA for the significant advantages its device offers over existing respiratory alternatives.
The investment case
The field of respiratory humidification has not seen any significant innovation for decades, despite the substantial operational burden or suboptimal patient outcomes associated with existing solutions. This is particularly evident through the industry engagement RespirAq is generating.
Our investment in RespirAq will help the company to bring its device to market and into the hands of clinicians.
Final thoughts
I’m excited to be joining the RespirAq board alongside Movac’s investment in RespirAq and to support Sandra in her journey to bring this important device to market.
